Dr Christian Piska

Dr. Christian Piska is an associate professor (Ao. Univ.-Prof.) at the Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law, Faculty of Law, University of Vienna, with more than 30 years of research and teaching experience in public law, economic law, environmental law, and European Union law. He also lectures at Danube University Krems, FH Campus Wien, and the University of Kraków.

His research focuses on environmental and technology law, with particular emphasis on disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, crypto-assets, and data protection, and their societal impact. Gambling law has recently become a prominent area of his work; he examines regulatory frameworks, the interaction between national gambling regimes and EU law, and issues such as state monopolies and fundamental freedoms.

He is a frequent speaker at international iGaming conferences, including iGaming Germany and iGaming MarTech Amsterdam, and provides legal expertise to law firms such as seeber.law.
