Gibraltar-licensed ADI Predictstreet has secured regulatory approval in Gibraltar to expand its prediction markets beyond football to include various other sectors. This expansion comes as the company faces an ongoing investigation from Germany's GGL concerning its advertising practices during the World Cup due to operating without a German license.
ADI Predictstreet, a prediction market platform holding a Gibraltar license and an official FIFA Prediction Market Partner for the 2026 World Cup, has received regulatory clearance from Gibraltar authorities to broaden its market offerings beyond football.
Following a thorough review of its operational framework, Gibraltar's regulatory authorities have endorsed ADI Predictstreet's initial structure, allowing it to move forward with a systematic introduction of new, regulated prediction markets. This expansion will encompass a diverse range of categories, including additional sports, entertainment, cultural events, weather predictions, and selected political outcomes.
Dimitrios Psarrakis, ADI Predictstreet's chief executive, emphasized the significance of this milestone. He stated, “Successfully completing this first phase with Gibraltar validates both our platform and our approach to responsible innovation.” Psarrakis further noted that while sports provided an excellent initial entry point for their global launch, the company's ultimate objective is to establish a platform where users can forecast a broad spectrum of real-world events that impact society.
Nigel Feetham, KC MP, Gibraltar’s Minister for Justice, Trade and Industry, commended the regulatory approval, describing it as a manifestation of “forward-looking regulation” that fostered new market creation and would attract innovative businesses. He highlighted the rapid international recognition achieved through the World Cup partnership and other global collaborations as evidence of Gibraltar’s evolving financial and regulatory ecosystem.
However, this positive development occurs amidst a formal investigation by Germany’s Gemeinsame Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL) into ADI Predictstreet's advertising activities during the recent World Cup. The German regulator stated that it initiated a formal review to determine if the platform's operations constitute illegal gambling under German law, as the operator does not possess a license to operate within Germany. Furthermore, its prominent advertising during World Cup matches is being scrutinized for potential violations of German gambling advertising laws, which prohibit unlicensed operators from marketing in the region.
ADI Predictstreet, which first launched in Gibraltar as the peninsula's inaugural prediction market, relies on the “ADI Chain” for its operations. This institutional blockchain, designed for compliance, leverages ZKsync’s Airbender zero-knowledge proof technology. To enhance market liquidity and expand its geographical reach, the platform has established partnerships with notable entities such as Kalshi, Fanatics Markets (US), Matchbook (UK, Ireland, and Brazil), and DAZN.
