Nigel Feetham

Nigel Feetham KC MP is the Minister for Justice, Trade and Industry in HM Government of Gibraltar, with specific responsibility for financial services and gaming. Nigel Feetham KC has been appointed as the Minister for Justice, Trade and Industry, and is the constituency MP for Glacis Estate, Laguna Estate, Ocean Village and Bayside, having been elected to the Gibraltar Parliament in the General Election held in 2023. In his ministerial portfolio, Nigel Feetham serves as the Minister for Financial Services and Gaming, as well as Justice.

Before entering government, Feetham built a long career in law. His career began in 1993 having graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University (LLB) and Manchester Victoria University (LLM). He is a barrister admitted to the Gibraltar Bar who has practised law full-time since 1993 and has a strong international client base, having worked with some of the biggest names in the finance sector. Feetham joined Hassans in 1993 and became a partner in 1999, and was later appointed as Head of the firm's Financial Services team in March 2021.

A recognized specialist in insurance and structured finance, Feetham has been noted for his expertise in the sector. Chambers describes him as having an excellent reputation in the insurance sector, assisting with portfolio transfers and acting on the re-domiciling of insurance companies. His practice at Hassans has spanned insurance, funds and structured finance, playing a major part in some of the most significant developments in the Gibraltar finance sector. His standing in the profession was formally recognized when he was appointed to the rank of Queen's Counsel on 5 April 2019 by the Governor of Gibraltar.

As Minister responsible for Gibraltar's gambling sector, Feetham has been a prominent voice on the jurisdiction's iGaming future. He has overseen major legislative reform, including a new Gambling Bill under which he has extended the ambit of the Gibraltar Finance Centre, now run exclusively by civil servants, to include gambling alongside financial services. He has also championed emerging sectors, positioning Gibraltar as an early mover in areas such as prediction markets and stablecoin-enabled payments for the gaming, financial services and broader economy.
