Dr Nepomuk Nothelfer

Dr Nepomuk Nothelfer is a German attorney-at-law and associate professor specializing in esports, gaming, gambling, and media law. He practices at MELCHERS Rechtsanwälte in Heidelberg and serves as Associate Professor at the University of Agder (UiA) in Norway.

With over 130 international speaking engagements and 48 published works, he is one of Europe's most visible legal voices in gaming and esports. His insights have been sought by the European Parliament, national governments, regulators, and leading esports organizations.

He is co‑founder of the world's first university research centre for the legal implications of esports (Research Center for Esports Law, founded 2019) and of the Esports Research Network, the largest interdisciplinary research network. He also serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Esports Federation, was editorial director for esports at the journal Sportrecht und E‑Sportrecht in der Praxis, and is one of three arbitrators at the Court of Arbitration of the German Esports Federation.
