GR8_TECH to Host Post-World Cup Benchmarking Session for Operators

Following the conclusion of the World Cup, GR8_TECH is turning attention to the data left behind. On Thursday, August 20, at 4:00 p.m. CEST, the sportsbook technology provider will run “The Locker Room: World Cup Numbers,” a closed benchmarking session designed to help operators dissect tournament performance and identify actionable insights.

Led by Dinos Doxiadis, head of sportsbook business at GR8_TECH, the session will present anonymised platform data alongside aggregated benchmarks. This is not a retrospective highlight reel but a working meeting focused on deeper analysis—covering margin, player behaviour, retention, and system load during peak moments.

Initial aggregated figures from the GR8_TECH platform paint a telling picture. The average tournament margin exceeded 12 per cent, while staking activity jumped markedly as the competition progressed. Average stakes during the knockout rounds were 53 per cent higher than those in the group stage, and the final itself saw average stakes 89 per cent above the tournament mean.

Player interest was notably concentrated among a handful of teams. Matches involving Spain, Argentina, England, or France accounted for 42 per cent of total World Cup turnover. Argentina emerged as the most heavily backed side, drawing 12.5 per cent of all bets, though Spain trailed by only 0.09 percentage points in turnover share.

The final also tested operational capacity. Within one minute of the final whistle, GR8_TECH’s platform processed and settled over half a million bets—a clear demonstration of the processing power required when a global audience reaches a simultaneous outcome.

Inside The Locker Room, participants will explore a range of themes: live betting and bet builder trends, margin and staking dynamics, peak-load and settlement moments, acquisition versus player reactivation, retention beyond the tournament, unexpected geographic performance, operational and product failures, and priorities for the next major event.

Doxiadis emphasised the value of looking beyond raw numbers. “The World Cup generates a huge amount of data, but the value comes from understanding what sits behind it,” he said. The session is about identifying patterns operators might miss in their own reporting and turning one month of activity into better decisions for future events.
