Four Winds Ventures, an investment and consulting entity created by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians in Michigan, has announced the appointment of Kathy George as its new chief executive officer. Ms. George most recently served as president of Catawba Two Kings Casino located in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

George brings a wealth of experience to her new position, spanning both tribal and commercial gaming sectors. Prior to her role at Catawba Two Kings Casino, she held the CEO position at FireKeepers Casino Hotel in Battle Creek, Michigan, overseeing its operations and subsidiary businesses for the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Indians. Her extensive career also includes general manager roles at Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls, New York, and the temporary Casino at Buffalo Creek. Furthermore, she garnered significant hospitality expertise as a general manager for renowned hotel brands such as DoubleTree by Hilton, Embassy Suites, and Wyndham International.

Established by the Pokagon Band, Four Winds Ventures aims to explore and engage in investment and consulting prospects. Its primary focus lies in the development, management, and operational spheres within the commercial gaming, hospitality, and related industries.

Matthew Wesaw, Chairman of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, expressed strong confidence in the appointment. He remarked that George is “one of the most respected leaders in the gaming and hospitality industry,” citing her “exceptional track record of operational excellence, strategic vision, and developing strong teams.” Wesaw also highlighted her deep understanding of “the unique role Tribal enterprises play in creating opportunities and further diversifying our economic portfolio.” Mary Smith, who chairs the Four Winds Ventures board and also serves as president and CEO of Four Winds Casinos, echoed these sentiments, stating, “Kathy brings a proven track record and a myriad of skills in the development and management of tribally-owned assets.” Smith further noted that George’s “extensive experience and proven leadership make her the ideal person to guide Four Winds Ventures into its next phase of development.”
