History & Corporate Structure

TonyBet was founded in 2009 when Antanas Guoga, a Lithuanian-Australian poker player and later member of the European Parliament, acquired and rebranded the existing OmniBet operation. Guoga's personal brand, known as “Tony G,” helped grow the business. In 2011 the company operated under UK and Estonian licences. A significant milestone came in December 2013 with the launch of a dedicated Open Face Chinese Poker platform, followed by the first world championship tournament in 2014. In September 2016, Betsson acquired TonyBet’s Lithuanian operations for up to €6 million, rebranding them as Betsafe. The company regained full independence in November 2022 when it obtained an Estonian licence under TonyBet OÜ. Today, TonyBet is headquartered in Riga, Latvia, and employs a team of industry professionals.

Licensing & Regulation

TonyBet holds multiple regulated licences: Spain (since 2015), Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission (since 2021), Netherlands KSA (since 2022), Ontario iGaming (since 2025), and licences in Ireland, Latvia, and Estonia. In February 2025, the Dutch regulator issued a warning for not providing 24/7 customer support in Dutch, which the company quickly remedied. The company is also a member of the Canadian Gaming Association as of 2026.

Products & Platforms

Sportsbook: Pre-match and live betting on football, basketball, tennis, hockey, esports, and political/entertainment events. The platform offers competitive odds and a mobile-optimised web experience as well as dedicated iOS/Android apps.
