Stake.com is the world's leading cryptocurrency-based online casino and sportsbook, founded in 2017 by Australian entrepreneurs Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani. Operated under the Curaçao-registered company Medium Rare N.V., the platform has grown from a niche crypto-betting site into a global iGaming powerhouse, attracting over 80 million monthly visits and processing more than 100 billion bets annually. Stake.com distinguishes itself by offering provably fair games, instant crypto deposits and withdrawals, and a vast library of slots, live dealer tables, poker, and sports betting markets. Aggressive marketing partnerships with the UFC, Formula 1 teams, English Premier League clubs, and the X Games League have cemented its brand presence worldwide. The company expanded into regulated markets through acquisitions such as Betfair Colombia, Idealbet in Italy, and Mocinoplay in Denmark, while securing licenses in Peru, Brazil, Mexico, and Greenland. Despite legal challenges, including lawsuits in 2026 alleging that its advertisements targeted children, Stake.com remains the largest crypto online casino by revenue, generating an estimated $4.7 billion in gross revenue in 2024. The founders also launched the live-streaming platform Kick.com after Twitch banned gambling-related streams.
Detailed Review
History & Founding
Stake.com was conceived out of a partnership between Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani, who first met as teenagers playing the online game RuneScape. In 2016 they founded Easygo, a game-development studio, and subsequently launched Stake.com in 2017. The platform initially focused on cryptocurrency transactions, leveraging blockchain's transparency to offer provably fair gaming – a feature that helped build trust among players. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Stake paid Twitch streamers millions to broadcast live gambling sessions, driving revenue from $100 million to over $2 billion in two years. After Twitch banned gambling-related content in 2022, Craven and Tehrani launched the competing live-streaming service Kick.com.
