bwin Interactive Entertainment AG originated as Betandwin.com, founded in Vienna in 1997 by Norbert Teufelberger and Manfred Bodner. The company launched its online sports betting site in 1998 and went public on the Vienna Stock Exchange in March 2000, quickly establishing itself as a pioneer in the nascent online gambling industry. A critical milestone was the 2005 acquisition of Ongame e‑Solutions AB, which powered its multiplayer poker network and was later renamed bwin Games.
