U.S. Representative for New York's 3rd Congressional District

Thomas Richard Suozzi is a U.S. Representative serving New York's 3rd Congressional District, having been re-elected in a February 2024 special election after previously holding the seat from 2017 to 2023. He is a former Nassau County Executive (2002–2009) and Mayor of Glen Cove (1994–2001), with a background in accounting and law. Suozzi has been actively involved in gambling policy, publicly supporting New York's 2013 casino referendum and participating in discussions on the Seneca Nation gaming compact and downstate casino licensing.

Before entering politics, Suozzi worked as a Certified Public Accountant at Arthur Andersen, served as a law clerk for a federal judge, and practiced as a commercial litigator at Shearman & Sterling. He holds a B.S. in accounting from Boston College and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. His political career has focused on fiscal responsibility, infrastructure, and regional development, with gambling expansion emerging as a recurring issue in his public service.
