Sunil Cutinho

Sunil Cutinho is a Chicago-based exchange technology executive who has served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) of CME Group since February 2022. In this role he leads the company's global technology strategy and operations, overseeing critical infrastructure that supports one of the world's largest derivatives marketplaces.

Cutinho joined CME Group in 2002 and rose through a series of senior technology and clearing roles. He previously served as President of CME Clearing, Managing Director and Deputy Head of Clearing, and Managing Director of Clearing Operations & Systems. His deep expertise in clearing and settlement systems positioned him to drive CME Group's modernization efforts, including a major cloud migration partnered with Google Cloud.

Under his technology leadership, CME Group has been recognized for innovation, and Cutinho himself received the 2025 ChicagoCIO Super Global ORBIE Award. He holds a Master's degree in Financial Markets and is an active member of the WSJ Leadership Institute Technology Council. Despite occasional confusion with the term "gaming" in earnings calls, Cutinho's entire career has been in regulated financial exchange technology, not iGaming or gambling.
