National Consumer Secretary of Brazil
Ricardo Morishita Wada is a Brazilian lawyer and professor of consumer law at the Instituto Brasiliense de Direito Público (IDP). He previously served as Director of the National Department of Consumer Protection before being appointed National Consumer Secretary, succeeding Paulo Pereira.
In his role as Secretary, he has led initiatives to protect consumers in the regulated betting market, including the launch of a Consumer Protection Lab to detect illegal gambling platforms and public warnings against unauthorized betting products such as Polymarket and Kalshi. His work focuses on enforcing consumer rights in the context of Brazil's evolving iGaming landscape.
