Prof. Stefano Filletti is a distinguished Maltese legal scholar and practitioner specializing in Criminal Law. He holds a B.A., LL.D., LL.M. (IMLI), M.Jur. (Oxon.), and Ph.D. (Melit.). He serves as an Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer) and Head of the Department of Criminal Law within the Faculty of Laws at the University of Malta.
Concurrently, he is Managing Partner at Filletti & Filletti Advocates, a Maltese law firm where he leads practice areas intersecting criminal law, AI regulation, and the gambling sector. He has authored and co-authored several key publications focusing on criminal law, AI liability, and EU criminal justice.
Prof. Filletti was appointed President of the Council of Europe’s Working Group on AI and Criminal Law, leading the drafting of an international treaty on AI in criminal justice systems. He frequently speaks at international conferences, including SiGMA events, addressing the legal implications of AI and algorithms in regulated industries such as gambling.
