Nic Cary co-founded Blockchain.com in 2011 after reading the Bitcoin whitepaper, believing it would become one of the most important technologies of his generation. The company began as an open-source block explorer and later introduced the first mobile crypto wallet, setting a foundation for self-custodial digital finance.
Under Cary's leadership, Blockchain.com raised a $30 million Series A, then the largest in Europe, from investors including Sir Richard Branson. He also serves as Chairman and Co-Founder of the charity Sky’s the Limit, which focuses on supporting under-resourced entrepreneurs. His earlier career spanned selling seafood, building websites for law firms and sandwich shops, teaching, and serving as a Founder Partner at PipelineCRM, a CRM built on AWS and Ruby on Rails.
Today, Cary is focused on the intersection of AI and cryptocurrency, advocating for broader access to financial tools through decentralized technology. He remains actively involved in shaping Blockchain.com’s strategy as the company expands into new products like self-custodied perpetual futures trading and wealth management services.
