Ng Wai Han
Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macau SAR Government
Ng Wai Han is a senior Macau civil servant who, as of June 2026, serves as the Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macau Special Administrative Region, a cabinet‑level position overseeing economic policy, finance, and gaming industry regulation. She was appointed by the State Council of China and sworn in by Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai, marking a historic ascent within the territory’s government.
Ng began her public‑service career in Macau’s civil administration and later became Director of the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP). In April/May 2025 she was named Director of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), Macau’s casino regulator, becoming the first woman to hold that post. During her tenure at DICJ she oversaw the implementation of new gaming concessions and strengthened regulatory oversight of the world’s largest gambling hub.
In June 2026, after just over a year leading the gaming watchdog, Ng was elevated to Secretary for Economy and Finance. In her new role she is expected to drive the government’s economic diversification agenda while retaining influence over the gaming sector, which remains central to Macau’s fiscal health. Her appointments have been widely reported by industry and regional media.
