Mike Braun

Mike Braun is the 52nd Governor of Indiana, having taken office on January 13, 2025. As a key regulatory figure in the gambling industry, he has recently signed legislation affecting casino expansion and sweepstakes casinos, including a sweepstakes ban and a change to casino referendum requirements.

Braun built a national truck equipment company, Meyer Body, from a small struggling business in Jasper, Indiana. He earned a degree in economics from Wabash College (summa cum laude) and an MBA from Harvard Business School. After a few years working for a national kitchen cabinet company, he took over Meyer Body in 1981 and grew it into a nationwide enterprise employing thousands.

His public service began as a local school board member for ten years, then as an Indiana State Representative from 2014 to 2017. In 2018 he was elected to the U.S. Senate, where he was named the most effective first-term Republican Senator and led over 40 bills into law. After serving one term in the Senate, he successfully ran for governor.

As governor, Braun has taken a conservative approach to gambling regulation, signing a bill that banned sweepstakes casinos and approved a new casino referendum in a local community. His actions are closely watched by the iGaming industry as Indiana navigates the expansion of legal gambling.
