Kane Purdy

Kane Purdy is a highly respected leader in the iGaming and betting industry, boasting over two decades of extensive operational experience and deep sector knowledge. He currently serves as the non-executive Chair of the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC), a position he assumed with immediate effect in April 2026. This role is filled on a rotating basis by BGC members, with each term lasting 12 months, and he succeeded Michael Dugher.

In addition to his pivotal role at the BGC, Purdy is the Managing Director at Gamesys Operations Limited, which is part of Bally's Intralot. His career at Gamesys began in 2013 when he took on the Managing Director position. Prior to this, he gained valuable experience at other prominent industry players. From 2006 to 2008, he worked as an IT Service Delivery Manager at BetVictor, followed by a stint as Operations Manager at Betfred from 2008 to 2009. He also spent three years at the now-defunct online and telephone operator Stan James.

Throughout his career, Purdy has demonstrated a strong commitment to industry collaboration and enhancing player protection. He has played an active role in driving initiatives that strengthen standards across the sector, notably as the Chair of GamProtect. GamProtect is a single customer view initiative designed to improve player protection and raise standards across the industry, facilitating data sharing among operators for vulnerable players.

Purdy's leadership comes at a significant time for the UK iGaming sector, as it navigates increased regulatory scrutiny and evolving compliance requirements. He has expressed his honor and delight in taking on the BGC Chair role, emphasizing the importance of working collectively to address challenges, raise standards, and ensure the regulated sector continues to thrive for customers, the economy, and communities.
