Hon. Ray Abela
Member of Parliament & Chair of AI & Digital Affairs (Parliament of Malta)
Hon. Ray Abela MP is a Maltese Member of Parliament, MBA graduate, technology educator, entrepreneur, and advocate for digital transformation. He chairs the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology, also referred to as the AI & Digital Affairs Committee, where he influences digital policy including iGaming regulation and innovation.
With over three decades of experience, Abela focuses on AI, digital policy, education reform, and building talent for a future-proof economy. He has been active in promoting Malta as a hub for gaming and technology events and has spoken at major iGaming conferences such as SiGMA Europe. He also participates in initiatives by GamingMalta, the government foundation responsible for promoting Malta’s remote gaming sector.
His parliamentary work includes organising seminars on practical applications and ethics of AI, and driving the AI & Digital Parliamentary Committee’s agenda, which addresses compliance, AML, and safer gambling. Abela’s background as a technology educator and entrepreneur underpins his efforts to position Malta as a leader in digital and gaming innovation.
