Gary Carano is the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Caesars Entertainment, Inc., the largest casino operator in the United States. He assumed this role after leading the company through its transformative acquisition of Caesars Entertainment Corporation in 2020.
Carano began his career in gaming at the Eldorado Hotel and Casino Reno in 1973, working under founder Don Carano and learning every operational aspect of the business. He served as General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the Eldorado from 1980 to 1994, and later as General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the Silver Legacy Resort Casino from 1995 to 2014, a joint venture between Eldorado and MGM Resorts International. From 2004 to 2014, he also held the role of President and Chief Operating Officer of Eldorado Resorts LLC.
Under his leadership, Eldorado Resorts executed an aggressive growth strategy, merging with MTR Gaming Group in 2014 and acquiring Isle of Capri Casinos in 2017, Grand Victoria Elgin and Tropicana Resorts in 2018. He was named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Eldorado Resorts, Inc. in September 2014 and served as Executive Chairman from January 2019 until the completion of the Caesars merger in July 2020.
Carano holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Reno. He is an active philanthropist and serves on several charitable boards in Nevada.
