Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Bulgaria (since May 2026)

Galab Spasov Donev is a Bulgarian politician born on 28 February 1967 in Sofia. He graduated from the 35th Russian Language High School, the G. Benkovski Bulgarian Air Force Academy, holds a Master’s in Finance from the University of National and World Economy, and a Master of Laws from Ruse University. He also specialized in business and management at UNWE.

Donev first served as caretaker Minister of Labour and Social Policy in 2017 under Prime Minister Ognyan Gerdzhikov, then again in 2021 under caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Yanev, concurrently holding the post of Deputy Prime Minister. In 2022, President Rumen Radev appointed him caretaker Prime Minister of Bulgaria, a role he held from August 2022 to June 2023.

After his premiership, he served as Chief of Staff to President Radev from 2023 to 2026. When Radev resigned the presidency and formed the Progressive Bulgaria party in 2026, Donev was among the first to join. Since 8 May 2026, he has served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in Radev’s government.

He is a long-standing confidant and right hand of Rumen Radev, overseeing fiscal policy, including Bulgaria’s gambling regulatory framework where he has commented on relevant bills as Finance Minister.
