Demos Katsis is a Cypriot lawyer and politician who currently serves as the elected Deputy Mayor of Limassol, a position he has held since 1 July 2024 for the 2024–2029 term. He is also the Founding Partner of Katsis LLC, a law firm with offices in Limassol and Nicosia that operates in the iGaming, fintech, and corporate sectors. Katsis is a regular speaker and panellist at international industry events such as SiGMA summits and the Cyprus Fintech Summit, where he addresses responsible gambling, regulatory frameworks, and compliance topics.
Born in Limassol on 1 October 1979, Katsis earned Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws degrees with honours from the University of Bristol, a Diploma in Professional Legal Skills from City University (London), and an MA from the University of Malta via a full EU scholarship. He was admitted to the Cyprus Bar in 2003 and is a licensed insolvency practitioner. Before founding his own firm, he practised as a partner at an international law firm. He also holds academic positions as a professor at various universities and served as Assistant National Rapporteur for Cyprus on EU projects concerning unfair commercial practices and legalisation of public documents.
Katsis’s involvement in the iGaming industry is demonstrated through his frequent conference appearances and his focus on balancing innovation with player protection. He participated in the SiGMA Euro-Med Summit 2025 podcast on key responsible gaming strategies for operators, and his law firm provides legal counsel to gambling operators and fintech companies. His dual role as a municipal deputy mayor and a legal expert positions him as a key voice in shaping regulatory discussions in Cyprus and beyond.
