András Kármán
Minister of Finance of Hungary
András Kármán is a Hungarian economist and politician serving as Minister of Finance under Prime Minister Péter Magyar since May 2025. A senior member of the TISZA Party (Tisztelet és Szabadság Párt), he was previously a state secretary for tax and finance in the second Orbán government. Educated at Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem, Kármán is recognized as a budget and tax policy expert.
In his current role, Kármán has been the responsible minister for transferring gambling regulation to the Ministry of Finance, a move that signals a significant regulatory reset in Hungary’s iGaming sector. He has publicly questioned the state monopoly held by Szerencsejáték Zrt., the national lottery and sports‑betting operator, arguing that the current system lacks transparency.
Kármán has accused Szerencsejáték of diverting revenues for “propaganda” purposes, alleging that funds meant for public benefit are instead used to support political messaging. Beyond gambling oversight, he serves as the TISZA Party’s fiscal and tax‑policy advisor, contributing to broader economic reform discussions. His tenure has placed him at the center of Hungary’s evolving approach to online gaming and fiscal governance.
