Alex Zevenbergen
Founder at Sport Context
Alex Zevenbergen is an Irish-based technology and sports-betting executive with a background in quantitative trading and risk management. He was one of the four co-founders of Banach Technology, a Dublin-headquartered sportsbook solutions provider that developed a proprietary risk-management platform and quantitative-driven trading models for operators. The four founders—Mark Hughes, Alex Zevenbergen, Rob Reck, and Hadrien Lepretre—previously established the quantitative (“quants”) division of Paddy Power (now Flutter Entertainment), bringing deep domain expertise to their own venture.
In March 2021, Banach Technology was acquired by Australian online bookmaker PointsBet in a $43 million cash-and-shares deal. As part of the transaction, Zevenbergen and his co-founders took senior roles within PointsBet; Zevenbergen became Vice President of Technology Trading Platform. He later left PointsBet to found Sport Context, a company that provides sports context and data, where he remains as Founder.
Beyond his professional work, Zevenbergen is also a racehorse owner; his horse Oiche Rua has won races at Bellewstown and Dundalk. His career reflects a consistent focus on applying quantitative methods to the sports-betting industry, from his early days at Paddy Power through to his current entrepreneurial venture at Sport Context.
