Topgolf to Host World Series of Golf Qualifiers Across 30 Venues in 11 States

Topgolf and the World Series of Golf will run the first qualifying tournament across 30 U.S. venues on September 1-2, with the top winner earning a spot in the WSG Championship for a chance at a $250,000 prize.
Topgolf has teamed up with the World Series of Golf (WSG) to launch the first-ever qualifying tournament for the WSG championship. The competition will unfold simultaneously at 30 Topgolf locations spanning 11 U.S. states — Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina and Tennessee.
The format blends golf with poker-like betting mechanics, managed through the WSG app. Players will compete hole by hole over nine virtual holes on Topgolf’s screens, with the top finishers advancing to a green grass championship. Each venue's qualifying event will be held over two nights — September 1 and September 2. On night one, groups of four compete per bay; from a full field of 128, 32 winners emerge per venue. Those 32 are then re-bracketed until eight survive to night two, where a single venue champion is crowned.
The winner at each Topgolf site earns a spot in the National Qualifying Championship at Topgolf Scottsdale on October 2. The last player standing there receives a designated competitor seat in the World Series of Golf Championship, where the top prize reaches up to $250,000. Additional WSG championship seats will be filled through other satellite events run by WSG.
Topgolf CEO David McKillips described the tournament as a fresh way to play, saying it “combines the strategy and excitement of poker with the skill and competition of golf” and called it “innovative, social and competitive.” WSG CEO Robert Davidman noted that the format “takes the strategy of poker and puts it into every hole” and that the partnership makes the World Series of Golf “accessible to everyone.”
Registration costs $86.49, which includes a WSG app subscription and a reserved bay at the participant’s local Topgolf. Interested players can register or find more details via the official WSG satellite site.
