A Paag study finds that bets up to BRL50 ($10) made up 74% of all Brazilian betting transactions in Q2 2026, though larger wagers accounted for most financial value. Player activity peaks mid-month and during evening hours, with São Paulo leading in market share.
A new report from data intelligence firm Paag reveals that low-value wagers continue to dominate Brazil's regulated betting market. During the second quarter of 2026, bets of up to BRL50 ($10) accounted for 74% of all transactions on operator platforms, yet represented only about 23% of total financial turnover.
The quarterly study, based on Paag's analysis of transactions within its customer base from April to June 2026, underscores the prevalence of micro-transactions. Breaking it down further, deposits of up to BRL20 ($4) made up roughly 45% of transaction volume but just 8% of monetary value. Bets between BRL20 and BRL50 ($4 to $10) contributed about 29% of transaction volume and 15% of value.
High-value bets drive turnover
While small wagers dominate activity, larger bets generate the bulk of financial flow. Wagers exceeding BRL50 ($10) accounted for approximately 77% of total value handled in Q2. Of that, bets between BRL50 and BRL1,000 ($10 to $200) represented 57% of overall value. Transactions over BRL1,000 ($200) – fewer than 1% of all bets – still moved about 20% of the funds passing through platforms.
“Today, the data establishes market predictability from an operational standpoint, revealing clear patterns dominated by micro-transactions,” said João Fraga, CEO of Paag, commenting on the findings.
Player behaviour patterns
The study also identified distinct temporal and demographic trends. Player activity peaks between the 8th and 20th of each month, with the highest frequency occurring from the 16th to the 22nd. The 20th recorded the highest participation in both volume and value, while activity tapered off toward month-end.
Evening hours are the most popular for betting: 39% of all transactions happen between 6:00pm and 11:00pm.
Users aged 25 to 49 generate roughly 80% of total financial volume. Geographically, São Paulo remains the leading state for both transaction count and value. The South and Centre-West regions show the highest average bet values, while the North and Northeast continue to drive expansion of the user base.
