Ontario’s regulated iGaming market generated CA$400.6m in GGR for June 2026, up 30.6% year over year, with sports betting handle boosted past CA$1bn by the FIFA World Cup.
The latest monthly report from iGaming Ontario shows the province’s regulated online gaming market generated CA$400.6m in gross gaming revenue for June 2026, a 30.6% increase from the same month in 2025 despite a slight decline from May. It was the sixth time in the past eight months that monthly GGR has surpassed the CA$400m mark, a milestone first reached in November 2025. Total wagers for the month reached CA$9.46bn, up 30.3% year over year.
Online casino remained the dominant vertical, producing CA$1.86bn in revenue over the first half of 2026, a 30% improvement compared with H1 2025. Casino games accounted for 88% of total bets in June, with handle reaching CA$8.30bn, down 1% from May. Casino GGR came to CA$316.8m, a 3% month-over-month drop but a 30.4% jump from June 2025.
Online poker remained a marginal segment, continuing to represent about 1% of both handle and revenue in Ontario’s regulated market.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup gave sports betting a notable lift, pushing monthly handle above CA$1bn to CA$1.03bn. That was 6% higher than May and 34.5% above June 2025, when no World Cup was held. It also marked the eighth time in the past 12 months that monthly sports betting handle has exceeded CA$1bn. Sports betting produced CA$78.6m in non-adjusted gross gaming revenue during June, down 3% from the prior month and accounting for a 20% share of the overall market.
Player activity continued to grow, with active player accounts rising 5% month over month to 1.319m. Average revenue per active account, however, fell 8% to CA$304.
