KSA issues formal warning to VBet over live betting on micro-events

The KSA has formally warned VBet operator Scgo Limited for offering live bets on prohibited in-play events like throw-ins and corners, citing match manipulation risks, and stressed that further violations could lead to enforcement action. The regulator also recently ordered Kevenga Limitada to stop unlicensed operations and warned Smart Gaming over technical failures.
The Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) has formally warned Scgo Limited, the operator behind the VBet brand, after detecting that it offered bets on in-play micro-events such as throw-ins, fouls, corner kicks and offsides. The breach was uncovered during intensified surveillance around the World Cup. Once notified by the regulator, the operator immediately removed the prohibited betting options from its platform.
Under the KSA's Guidelines on the Integrity of Sports Betting, published on 18 December 2025, licensees are explicitly responsible for ensuring their offerings comply with the defined set of permitted wagers. The regulator considers betting on specific match events to carry a heightened risk of match manipulation and has therefore banned such markets.
This is not the first time VBet has faced scrutiny from the KSA on this issue. The regulator noted a prior warning had already been issued to the operator for offering prohibited betting options. With the latest violation, the KSA has now issued a formal warning and stressed that any further breaches could trigger enforcement action.
In a separate recent case, the KSA ordered Kevenga Limitada to cease offering unlicensed online gambling in the Netherlands through the site betspino.com. Potential penalty payments in that matter are capped at €1.28m ($1.5m). The regulator's investigator accessed the site using a Dutch IP address on 10 and 25 February 2026 and was able to create an account with the Netherlands, the +31 country code and euro currency already pre-selected.
Earlier in June, the KSA also warned Smart Gaming, the operator of Betnation, after a technical failure allowed players to gamble without the required checks against the Cruks self-exclusion register, further demonstrating the regulator's active enforcement stance against unlawful practices.
