FIFA Taskforce Finds No Evidence of Betting Irregularities Across 2026 World Cup

FIFA has confirmed that its integrity monitoring operation during the 2026 World Cup detected no suspicious betting activity across all 104 matches. The governing body's dedicated taskforce, activated for the entirety of the tournament, collected and cross-referenced betting data from multiple sources to identify any potential match manipulation, concluding with a clean slate.

This outcome provides reassurance to the global audience that Spain's victory is uncontested, while also underscoring the effectiveness of the collaborative framework. Football is widely considered one of the sports most vulnerable to match-fixing, making the taskforce's comprehensive approach particularly significant. Members included the football federations of the three host nations—Mexico, the United States, and Canada—alongside continental confederations such as AFC, CAF, Concacaf, CONMEBOL, and UEFA. Law enforcement bodies like the FBI and INTERPOL, as well as the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Council of Europe, and data provider Sportradar, also participated.

Liam Rich, FIFA’s Senior Integrity Manager, praised the coordinated effort. "The FIFA Integrity Task Force provided a strong framework during the FIFA World Cup 2026 for sharing intelligence, assessing potential concerns and coordinating a timely response," he said. He added that all members demonstrated expertise and commitment, and that FIFA looks forward to building on this collaboration at future tournaments. Similar monitoring efforts are expected to intensify ahead of the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
