Entre Ríos gambling authority IAFAS records June net profit as revenue climbs

The Instituto de Ayuda Financiera a la Acción Social (IAFAS), which oversees lotteries and casinos in Argentina's Entre Ríos province, posted a net profit of ARS5.12 billion (approximately $3.47 million) for June, supported by higher gaming turnover and ongoing cost-cutting efforts.

The monthly result caps what the regulator described as a robust opening half of 2026. Lottery offerings hit record monthly performance during the period, while efficiency gains in revenue collection and operations boosted profitability, according to IAFAS.

IAFAS manages all legal gambling within Entre Ríos, covering lotteries, land-based casinos and online gaming. Under provincial law, its profits flow into sport, social economy, security, health and cultural programmes.

The authority has increasingly woven operational efficiency, responsible gambling and enforcement against illegal betting into its strategic framework.

One current infrastructure upgrade involves modernising communications links between IAFAS headquarters and provincial casinos. The regulator estimates this will yield monthly savings of roughly ARS10 million.

IAFAS also noted its headcount has fallen from 1,253 employees in July 2016 to 815 as of this month, reflecting a sustained downsizing that has not disrupted service delivery.

The institute confirmed that 18% of profits continue to be channelled to provincial sports programmes. Additional statutory contributions go to social economy initiatives, public security, healthcare, cultural funding, pension obligations and transfers to the provincial Ministry of Economy.

This financial disclosure follows several operational moves by IAFAS during 2026. Recent initiatives include the launch of the NOVA+ parental control app, designed to block access to illegal gambling sites, the retention of Level 3 Responsible Gaming certification from the World Lottery Association, and active participation in national regulatory talks via Argentina's lottery association ALEA.

Across Argentina, provincial gambling authorities face mounting pressure to tighten controls on unlicensed online betting while sustaining revenue and upholding responsible gambling standards. In various provinces, regulators have rolled out blocking tools, awareness campaigns and enforcement actions as digital betting activity expands.

The June profit update comes as Entre Ríos lawmakers pressed for more transparency on proposed IAFAS casino closures, asking for details on affected jobs, locations and possible employment-preserving alternatives.
