DATA.BET's post-World Cup analysis shows bet builders dominated, pre-match betting captured 63% of turnover, and stat markets performed strongly, with France leading team stakes.

Even as Spain claimed the World Cup trophy, the bet builder market proved to be the real winner for operators, according to data from Cyprus-based supplier DATA.BET. Punters frequently constructed intricate combinations involving corners, yellow cards, and goalscorers.

Pre-match betting dominated turnover throughout the tournament, accounting for 63% of all wagers. Live markets held a 37% share, a split that DATA.BET described as "remarkably consistent" over the six-week event.

Stat-based markets contributed 11% of total turnover, with total corners being the most popular stat market and ranking tenth overall by stake on the platform. Among individual players, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, and Harry Kane were the most frequent goalscorers featured in betslips.

On the team side, France attracted the highest stakes even after being eliminated by eventual champions Spain in the semi-finals. Spain, Argentina (runners-up), England (third place), and Belgium rounded out the top five, collectively accounting for 36.5% of total stakes.

Yevhenii Ilchenko, Head of Sports at DATA.BET, commented: "The scale wasn’t just visible on the pitch — it showed in our numbers too." He added that the World Cup generated 58.5% of the combined betting turnover with the Intel Extreme Masters Cologne Major. "What made this World Cup stand out wasn’t one number — it was how consistently engaged bettors stayed for six straight weeks, till the final," Ilchenko said.
