History and Founding Story

Nomadic Display was founded in 1975 by Theodore “Ted” Zeigler, who drew inspiration from the geodesic design principles of R. Buckminster Fuller. Zeigler’s breakthrough was the Instand® display, the first self‑locking pop‑up exhibit that eliminated the need for tools or complicated assembly, allowing exhibitors to set up a professional booth in minutes. This invention revolutionized the trade show floor and established Nomadic as a pioneer in portable modular displays.

Products and Services

Today, Nomadic Display offers a full spectrum of products. Its portfolio includes portable displays such as tabletop units and banner stands, pop‑up displays with seamless graphic panels, modular aluminum‑frame systems that can be reconfigured for different show sizes, and tension fabric displays for vibrant, wrinkle‑free graphics. For large‑scale events, the company designs and fabricates fully custom exhibits. The rental program, recently expanded for 2026, provides 29 kits and 84 add‑ons including hanging signs, counters, kiosks, and furniture, all pre‑inspected before shipment. Graphics and signage are produced in‑house with G7 certification for consistent color accuracy, covering SEG, pillowcase, inkjet, and backlit printing. Nomadic also offers replacement parts, a 24/7 Lifeline emergency support line, and exhibit management services covering logistics, service orders, and on‑site coordination.

Market Position and Awards

Nomadic Display has earned more than 20 design awards, including the International Gold Medal for Long Life Design, Best of Show, the International Exhibitors Association’s Focus Award, an Addy Award, and the Hazel Hays Award from the Exhibit Designers and Producers Association. In recognition of the founder’s impact, Exhibitor Magazine established the Zeigler Award, given annually to the top entry in the portable/modular display design competition. The company maintains a global footprint with 200 showrooms in over 34 countries and a workforce of about 67 employees. It remains privately held and competes with other trade show display providers such as Skyline Exhibits, Nimlok, and ExpoDisplays.
