History and Founding

mkodo was co-founded in 2001 by Stuart Godfree in London, initially as a mobile engagement platform but quickly pivoted to the regulated iGaming sector. Over two decades, the company built deep expertise in App Store guidelines, UX design, and native development, becoming a trusted partner for lottery operators and sportsbooks, particularly in Canada. In December 2019, Pollard Banknote acquired mkodo to strengthen its digital lottery capabilities, and mkodo continues to operate as a separate brand.

mkodo holds a strong position in the Canadian lottery market, serving the majority of provincial lotteries, and also works with global betting operators. The company has managed over 350 app submissions for clients, and GeoLocs has maintained 100% client retention for over 14 years. mkodo is certified by GLI, AGCO, and ISO 27001, and is a member of the Canadian Gaming Association. It has won multiple industry awards, including Mobile Services Supplier of the Year (2021) and Innovation in Mobile & Tablet (2020).

Leadership and Recent Developments

In April 2026, after 25 years as Managing Director, co-founder Stuart Godfree retired and was succeeded by David da Silva, an experienced iGaming executive with over 15 years in growth and transformation. Godfree remains as Strategic Advisor. Other key leaders include Graeme Fletcher (VP, Technology and Operations), Will Whitehead (Commercial Director), Undral Ganbold (Finance Director), Tom Atfield (Creative Director), and Georgina Dellar-Gardiner (Director of People & Culture). The company achieved Great Place to Work certification in 2024 and maintains a headcount of around 110.
