Evolis was founded in December 1999 (corporate entity established 2000) by five co-founders – Emmanuel Picot, Cécile Belanger, Serge Olivier, Didier Godard, and Yves Liatard – all formerly employed by an American plastic card printer manufacturer with French operations. The company quickly carved a niche in decentralized card printing, going public on Euronext’s Alternext market in 2006 to fund international expansion. Subsidiaries opened in the United States (2005, Miami), Singapore (2006), China (2009), India (2013), and Japan (2019). Strategic acquisitions included Sogedex Accessories (2012), Rajpurohit Cardtec (Evolis India, 2013), Detraplast (2014), and a majority stake in CardPresso (2016), a card design software firm. Evolis’s core value proposition is its “decentralized issuance” model. Instead of relying on centralized factories, organizations use Evolis printers to personalize cards on-site, dramatically shortening lead times and enhancing security. Recent Developments and Leadership

In September 2024, Christophe Peraudeau succeeded founder Emmanuel Picot as VP, Head of Evolis, marking the first leadership transition in the company’s 25-year history. Peraudeau had previously served as Marketing Director and a member of the Executive Committee. Jérôme Miermont continues as Chief Operating Officer. Emmanuel Picot remains with the company in a transitional role until June 2025. The acquisition by HID/ASSA ABLOY has provided Evolis with additional resources and global reach, while the company maintains its focus on innovation and customization from its single production center in Beaucouzé, France.
