  Astera LED Technology GmbH is a German hardware, software, and manufacturing specialist that has been at the forefront of battery-powered, wireless-controlled LED lighting since the mid-2000s. Founded in 2007 by German entrepreneur Norbert Ernst, the company originated after Ernst sold his previous development firm MyTronic and moved to China to establish Astera. Originally focused on developing and manufacturing LED products for German clients, the company quickly pivoted to wireless lighting after a collaboration with engineer Simon Canins led to the creation of battery-powered tubes with pixel-mapping and wireless DMX control. Astera’s product line has since evolved through multiple generations before making a decisive entry into the film lighting industry with the Titan Tube. Today, Astera is recognised globally for its 100% wireless LED fixtures, which combine advanced battery management (up to 20 hours runtime), rugged IP65/IP55 rainproof housings, and built-in LumenRadio wireless DMX modules for seamless CRMX and W-DMX control. With an international network of dealers, distributors and rental partners spanning more than 50 countries, Astera serves three symbiotic sectors: film/television/video production, special events of all types, and music/concert/touring. Headquartered in Munich, Germany, with manufacturing and distribution facilities in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, Astera is a privately held company employing between 201 and 500 people.
